The Fallbrook Union Elementary School District (FUESD) has been named a 2024–2025 STAR District by the Educational Results Partnership (ERP), joining just nine other districts in San Diego County to receive this statewide honor. Additionally, La Paloma Elementary, Live Oak Elementary, Mary Fay Pendleton Elementary, and San Onofre Elementary were each recognized as STAR Schools on this year’s California Honor Roll.
The Honor Roll, presented by ERP and the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence, identifies high-performing schools and districts that demonstrate outstanding academic achievement while closing opportunity gaps for historically underserved students. Schools and districts earning this distinction have performed above the state average on English Language Arts (ELA) and Math assessments for multiple years and have shown consistent improvement across all student groups
ERP’s Honor Roll program, developed in partnership with business and education leaders across California, celebrates educational systems that prepare students with the skills and knowledge needed for college, career, and lifelong success.
This latest recognition adds to an extraordinary year for the Fallbrook Union Elementary School District. Earlier this year, La Paloma Elementary and Live Oak Elementary were named 2025 California Distinguished Schools and recently celebrated their selection among California’s Top Schools 2025 by Innovate Public Schools, placing them among the top six percent of schools in the state for academic equity and excellence.
“I couldn’t be prouder of our students, staff, and leaders across the district,” said Superintendent Monika Hazel. “These awards reflect the heart of who we are at FUESD, a community dedicated to ensuring every child has access to the very best education. From our classrooms to our cafeterias, every member of our team contributes to this success. I’m deeply thankful for their passion, collaboration, and commitment to our mission of empowering every student to thrive.”
The California Honor Roll is the only school recognition program in the state presented in partnership with business leaders and based solely on objective student achievement data. This year, just over 20 percent of eligible schools and districts statewide made the Honor Roll list, highlighting FUESD’s exceptional performance and its commitment to continuous improvement.
FUESD’s recognition as a STAR District reaffirms its unwavering focus on academic excellence, equity, and community partnership, values that continue to position the district as a leader in elementary education throughout California.
